PlayBox TV Shark Tank India Pitch:
PlayBox TV is an Indian streaming device available through a mobile app and on a smart television. The founders added that they have over 40 streaming services available on their platform, providing access to all those channels at a discounted rate. The founders shared that their vision is to distribute their platform to every household across India. To fulfill this vision, they sought an investment of ₹1 Crore in exchange for 3.5% equity, valuing their business at ₹28.57 Crores.
PlayBox TV distributes its platform through cable distributors, with 87 partners across India, including Amazon, Zee, and Sony. At the time of the pitch, PlayBox TV had 26,000 users on its platform. They made ₹87 Lakhs in October 2021, ₹62 Lakhs in September 2021, and ₹59 Lakhs in August 2021. They have a strategic partner named Microscan, which has 40% of the company.
PlayBox TV Shark Tank India Negotiations & Funding:
Vineeta was the first Shark to go out, citing that this is not defensible, and once big players figure out that this is working, they would jump into this market. Anupam shared the same sentiment and went out for the same reason. He added that this is also a declining market. Namita and Gazal go out, citing they couldn’t relate to the product.
Peyush gives the first and only offer of ₹50 Lakhs for 20% of the company and the rest as a debt at 12% interest. The founders take a moment to think, but Peyush goes out before they counter him because once he finds out another person who came to pitch with Aamir was the person from Microscan, but Aamir didn’t disclose this initially.
