Watt Technovations Shark Tank India Pitch:
Watt Technovations, a Cov-tech ventilation system manufacturer, was featured on Shark Tank India Season 1 Episode 26. Founded by Nihaal Singh Adarsh, the startup created a groundbreaking device that easily attaches to any PPE kit to provide internal ventilation. This innovation was particularly valuable during the COVID-19 pandemic, addressing the discomfort and perspiration experienced by doctors and healthcare workers using PPE kits. Nihaal sought ₹101 for a 2% share of his company on the show.
Nihaal developed the Cov-Tech Ventilation System to alleviate the challenges faced by medical professionals, inspired by his mother, Dr. Poonam Kaur Adarsh, who struggled with sweating and discomfort after using PPE kits in her daily work. The product not only provides relief from sweating but also reduces issues like skin irritation and itching, making it a valuable addition to the medical field. With an average cost of Rs 5,499, the product has gained popularity in the market.
Watt Technovations Shark Tank India Negotiations:
After testing the product, Gazal pointed out that the fans are loud and asked if that could be annoying or distracting for people wearing it. Nihaal said that some users complained about the noise, and they are working on solutions for that. Anupam didn’t think this was the right business for Nihaal and mentioned that he might be wasting his time by pursuing it. He said that innovation alone is not enough to build a successful company. Namita agreed with Anupam and commented that this product may not work well in the industry.
Vineeta thought that the solution was very complicated and not scalable. She said she would give Nihaal exactly what he asked for but didn’t think he should take the deal. Therefore, she stepped out of the offer but expressed her willingness to provide mentorship in the future. Anupam also offered a deal, and Namita followed with the same offer. Namita suggested that she would partner with Anupam’s offer, which he agreed to. Peyush expressed reluctance about taking a 2% equity stake in the company but offered his phone number for Nihaal to contact him whenever he needed help. Nihaal proposed raising the equity to 4% for ₹101 if all interested sharks came in together, which the sharks accepted.
This was one of the most heartwarming pitches, and I suggest you all watch it.
How is Watt Technovations doing after Shark Tank India?
As for Watt Technovations’ post-Shark Tank status, our research indicates that the deal with the sharks never materialized after the show. The sharks’ concerns about the product’s potential for success may have been justified, as there have been no updates from the company since the show aired. It appears that Nihaal heeded their advice and may have stopped working on the product. Nihaal shared on his Instagram a year after the Shark Tank episode aired:
“That (Shark Tank) call has changed the trajectory of my life in unimaginable ways, and I will always cherish the memories, experience, exposure, and insights that I gained throughout the shoot. Thanks for all the love and support that I received nationally and internationally ❤️.”
Nihaal Singh Adarsh
As of November 2023, Nihaal is in the United States working at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as a Project Engineer. The social media pages of Watt Technovations went silent after the show, leading us to believe that he may have moved away from that venture. We will update his page as soon as more information becomes available.
