Sahayatha Wheelchair Shark Tank Pitch:
Sahayatha is a company which creates mobility solutions for impaired people. They claimed to be the first company to make a wheelchair with defecation cleansing assistance. The founder shared that India has around 3 crore mobility-impaired people therefore, the market for these products is big. Their products can reduce the number of caretakers from 3 to 1. They also claim to reduct transfers and accidental falls by 90%.
Sruthi added that 5 years of research & development went in the products and they have done 118 prototypes before reaching their final launch product which was only launched 4 months before her pitch. Which would be July 2022 as her pitch was shot in October 2022. The company also shared that, Their product can be purchased from their own website and Amazon.
Sahayatha Wheelchair Features & Pricing:
As for the features, the Sahayatha Wheelchair can be converted into a stretcher by pressing the reclining adjustable lever. The left-hand rest is removable for sliding the patient comfortably on the Wheelchair. They also have a recliner commode Wheelchair, which has Inbuilt Toilet which can be accessed by removing the U-cut lid. In Addition to this, there is a jet spray included for the cleansing process after urination or defecation. This process is 100% battery operated. The cleaning water comes from 3-Litre tank on the Wheelchair and a battary which would last a month just after 7 hours of charge. It is all patiented product in final stages of granting a patient.
Sahayatha comes in 2 varieties, The base model Sahayatha 200 comes with a price tag of ₹29,999 and Sahayatha 100 is priced at ₹39,999. Sruthi added that 100 Variant comes with a recline feature. For funding so far, The company got a grant of ₹5 lakhs from BIRAC followed by another ₹50 lakhs from BIRAC-BIG. So far total investment in the company including funds from Sruthi is at ₹1.16 Crores. Their lifetime sales is at 12 units out of which 10 were sold to Hospitals.
Sahayatha Wheelchair Shark Tank Negotiations & Funding:
Aman gives the first offer of exactly what Sruthi asked for which was ₹1 crore for 10% of the company. He added that Shruti can also take out ₹1 Lakh per month as salary to support herself during the product development stage. Anupam loved the entrepreneur and wanted to join Amit’s offer, Namita also wanted to join Amit’s offer which he accepted. Vineeta goes out of the deal citing she wouldn’t be able to help the company. Peyush and Aman also joined the Amit’s offer. So finally Amit, Aman, Anupam, Namita and Peyush offered ₹1 Crores for 10% of the company which Sruthi accepted in a heartbeat.

Sruthi Babu founded Sahayatha. Shruti is a biomedical engineer and she worked with her dad to develop this product who was a mechanical engineer.
How is Sahayatha doing after Shark Tank India?
Our research in the company revealed that their shark tank India deal with Sharks did indeed close after the show aired. Sahayatha’s incredible journey was also featured in Femina’s July 2023 edition, pg 33.
