Competishun is an Ed-tech platform which helps students prepare for JEE and NEET exams. They appeared on Shark Tank India Season 3 Episode 49. The founders sought an investment of ₹2 Crores for 1% of the company valuing the business at ₹200 Crores. The company was started in 2020,
Competishun founders shared that they have a huge upside when it comes to cost because they provide the same offering as offline coaching where people spend around ₹3,00,000 through their online platform in 1/10th of the price (₹30,000).
Competishun has their own website and a mobile app. Also, They have designed different types of courses for students at different level of receptivity. Moreover, The founders shared that in 2023, 2,055 of their students were admitted in IITs across India. They have 18 teachers on their platform.
Competishun’s Revenue & Financials during Shark Tank India:
Competishun had 11,000 students on their platform in FY22-23. As of November 2023, They already had 9,600 students using their platform and they are projecting that this number would cross 13,000 by end of this financial year.
The company has an average revenue of ₹10,000-₹11,000 per user. They closed the last year with revenue of over ₹10 Crores with a net profit of ₹2 Crores. . Also, They made ₹6.3 Crores in year prior. The company is projecting the revenue of ₹14 Crores in FY23-24.
Competishun Shark Tank India Negotiations & Funding:
Vineeta was the first shark to go out citing its difficult to engage young adults to study online and offline is nacessary for the competitive exams. Further, Peyush goes out citing that founders lacked clarity on what they wanted to build. Azhar goes out because he couldn’t figure out if they would be able to make this big. Aman goes out citing there isn’t any differentiator from other ed-tech platforms. Anupam goes out citing same reason as Aman.

How is Competishun doing after Shark Tank India?
Our research in the Competishun revealed that while they did not get a deal on Shark Tank, the show still gave them an exposure across the country which would translate into more business. While there pitch made waves online, Mohit Tyagi did a Reddit AMA where he shared that they already had an offer at ₹200 Crore valuation and that was the reason why they asked for that. He also admitted that they went to the show mainly for marketing not for funding.
