MOPP Foods specializes in offering North Indian cuisine through three verticals: MOPP for parathas and pakoras, Mad Over Curry for authentic curries, and Mealy for daily meals, known for their deliciousness and affordability. Aloo Pyaz Paratha leads their best-selling items, with options like Italian Twist Paratha and Butter Chicken variants. With over 3.5 lakh orders fulfilled, including 25,000+ in a month, MOPP Foods has gained traction. Featuring on Shark Tank India Season 2, they sought Rs. 75 lakhs for 2.25% equity. They operate on a cloud kitchen model.
MOPP Foods Shark Tank Financials:
Their basic price for their Paranthas is at ₹149 and they charge an additional of ₹20 for packaging which brings the total to ₹169. They have raised money already in Jan 2020 from their mentor and investor Rahul Singh, He invested ₹71 Lakhs at a valuation of ₹5 Crores. This was followed by two other rounds lead by India Accelerator which raised ₹70 lakh at ₹12 Crore valuation in November 2021 and ₹60 lakhs at ₹12.5 Crores in March 2022. Founders shared that, They just closed another round 2 months before the pitch where they raised ₹55Lakh at ₹22 Crores. This investment was raised in July 2022 and their pitch was shot in August 2022.
They are part of Ravel’s Launcher program and in the long run, they may acquire the company. Founders shared that at the time of the pitch, they had 61% equity with them, 9.3% was given to ESOP and the rest was with investors. Their monthly run-rate is at ₹60 lakh and their month-on-month growth rate is at 20%.
The company shared that they have 3 kitchens in their roster at the time of pitch. The founders vision is to open 100 Kitchens in next 3 years as entrepreneurs believe that this would be a game of scale in long run. Their EBITA on kitchen level is at 15% and they are burning ₹2-3 lakhs per month. Their target for next year is at ₹100 Crores with the profits of ₹10 Crores.
MOPP Foods Shark Tank Negotiations & Funding:
Namita was the first shark to go out because she was not interested in the area. Other sharks follow that with a popular meme that Namita also doesn’t have expertise in that area. Anupam thinks that this company would struggle to make profits even at scale even though it can be an interesting business. But, He still didn’t see his investment returns coming back the way he wanted so he went out of the deal. Peyush didn’t like how the company is operating under 3 Brands name so he steps out. Aman follows other sharks and goes out of the deal as well commenting that his sentiment matches what other sharks shared.
Amit was interested in the company and liked the founders. He comments that he doesn’t know anything about the food space but he still gives an offer of ₹50 lakh for 5% of the company and rest as debt. The company counters at ₹75 lakh for 5% and no debt as they added that the company was at break-even point last month and didn’t burn any money and they needed to be fair to their old investor. Amit agreed with the company’s counter and they shake hands on ₹75 Lakh for 5% of the company.

Gaurav Gupta & Geetika Anand Gupta are the founders of MOPP Foods. MOPP stands for Mad over Parathas and Pakoras. Geetika’s family is Punjabi. They lived in Dubai for 14 Years.
How is MOPP Foods doing after Shark Tank India?
Our research in the company revealed that their Shark Tank India deal with Amit closed after the show. Founders Gaurav and Geetika even attended the two-day summit hosted by the Cardekho group. Geetika shared in a conversation with Incube that Amit has been fantastic.
As of December 2023, MOPP is still in business and growing. While the financials of the company are not yet public, we will update this article as soon as more information comes to light. Amit shared in Season 3 that MOPP foods is doing around ₹70 lakhs a month in Revenue as of November 2023.
